In case you missed it

The final seconds of the Louisville/UConn contest...

You're welcome. This is why we love this game.

A one horse team

Click me. Damn.

Ummmm, yeah. We kinda figured that would happen without Purdue forward Robbie Hummel.

All Hail Syracuse

With loses to Kansas and Kentucky we predict Syracuse as the new number 1 in the polls. While Kansas seems to be taking this new fact hard Kentucky seems to be shrugging it off.

No wise man has the power to reason away

Our viewing schedule:

Kentucky at Tennessee (game of interest) - 12 pm
Texas at Texas A&M - 2 pm
Cincinnati at West Virginia - 2 pm
VCU at Old Dominion - 4 pm
Villanova at Syracuse - 8 pm

Marquette at Seton Hall - 12 pm
Richmond at Xavier (game of interest) - 1 pm
Michigan St. at Purdue - 4 pm
Duke at Virginia - 7:45 pm

Now we get to the part of the season where people start grasping at straws on why their team should get into the tournament, hence the Doobie Brothers reference. We believe SDSU will totally get in based on quality wins and their RPI. Yeah.

We're talking about the NIT of course. Go Aztecs...

San Diego State lost??

We told you so.

Yeah, the picture has nothing to do with the Aztecs loss against BYU. Sue us.

Hello NIT.

Wednesday, February 24, 2010

"If you play a team in the top 15 in the country and beat them on their floor it accents who you are," (SDSU coach Steve) Fisher said. "So we know the value that can be added to a win at BYU. We are well aware of it."

You might KNOW it. But can you EXECUTE it? We shall see. Let the game begin.

Your Wednesday Moment of Zen

March to Madness presents... Big

No, NSFW. But it really is big!

Game watched last night

Men of a certain age

1) Georgetown 70, Louisville 60

So much for the Cardinals bid to get off the bubble once and for all. And boy howdy that remaining schedule is like a murderer's row of the Big East. Good luck with that, coach Pitino!

Georgetown is doing just fine though. We love this time of the season.

Game watched last night

1) West fuckin' Virginia 62, UConn 73

Connecticut finally gets a NCAA Tournament worthy win. West Virginia's coach Huggins gets ejected from the game. And UConn fans are the most masochistic fans out there. Go Huskies!

It's Déjà Vu All Over Again

Are we really going to watch SDSU at BYU this Wednesday?

Are we going to put ourselves through this again?

The rundown is the same. A must win for the Aztecs against a ranked opponent to keep their NCAA Tournament hopes alive. San Diego State is creeping back into multiple bracket predictions as a possible 4th team from the Mountain West and a possible 12th seed. But we should know better. We've seen Groundhog Day. We know Einstein's definition of insanity.

But before anyone accuses us of schadenfreude, here is a non-biased opinion from College Hoops Journal:

"SDSU (20-7, 45, 77) Vital victories: New Mexico; UNLV. Damaging defeats: @ Wyoming; @ Pacific. I’ve said it for three weeks now: SDSU has to finish 11-5 in the conference to have a shot; it’s 9-4 now. It goes to Provo Wednesday for a massive game. Winning that would be plate-shifting in the Mountain West. A loss there and SDSU would need to run the table until the conference title game."

So, without further ado our official M2M Prediction is: SDSU loses close one in the final minutes, 71 to 80.

People don't mature anymore

They stay jackasses all their lives.
- Bill Erwin

Is DeMarcus Cousins the most immature player in college basketball? You know he nearly blew Kentucky's win over Vanderbilt. We gave him a free pass on the Mississippi Sate situation. But damn. Really, Cuz?

Sunday, February 21, 2010

Right in the kisser

Yeah. That happened. Clemson beat Virginia last night. Badly:

'Nuff said.

A history of choke

Ummmmm, wow. In the words of Richie Cusack, How do you fuck that up? Granted, Texas held at least a 10 point lead over Texas Tech until the last 9 minutes of the game. But when you stage a scoring bizzard, the opposing team goes cold and half their star players are gone and they start missing free throw shots, you have the ball with 12 seconds left needing only 2 points near point blank range you cannot miss!

And on top of it you perform the Keystone Cops version of Should I foul that Longhorn guy or not. Texas 71, Texas Tech 67. That was San Diego State quality play from the Red Raiders.

Maybe we shouldn't breathe so much

NSFW, from a cinematic point of view...

Our viewing schedule:

North Carolina at Boston College - Noon
Tennessee vs. the Downey Ball - 1:30 pm
Texas at Texas Tech (game of interest) - 2 pm
Virginia at Clemson - 4 pm
Kansas St. at Oklahoma - 6 pm
Kentucky at Vanderbilt (game of interest) - 6 pm

Villanova at Pittsburgh (game of interest) - Noon
Virginia Tech at Duke - 7:45 pm

Unfortunately that will not be us after watching the games today and tomorrow. Real life intrudes throughout this weekend and we need to keep our wits about us. But don't let that stop you. Have a drink for us.

Saluki downshift

"Yesterday all my trouble seemed so far away
Now it looks as though they're here to stay
Oh I believe in yesterday"

- Paul McCartney, Yesterday

Oh what a difference 3 years make. The Southern Illinois Salukis were the talk of the town, their coach was the queen of the ball getting them to their 3rd Sweet 16 in school history, along with numerous job offers.

My how things change...

If you can stomach the hi-larious Hitler reference therein lies a point. SIU has been in a horrific talespin losing nearly every other game. In a world of "what have you done for me lately" no matter how rational the defenders of coach Chris Lowery are, you will always have haters.

Long live the haters. And happy Friday.

Games watched last night

Not again...

1) Syracuse 75, Georgetown 71

The Hoyas were down 22 points in the second half but had an insane rally bringing it to 70 - 71 with a minute left. Could this be it? Will Georgetown finally win one against the Orange this season? A glimmer of hope? Ah, noooooo.

2) Pittsburgh 58, Marquette 51

Where's winning Waldo? Apparently not at the Bradley Center last night for Marquette. Here you can see the Golden Eagle fans doing their best Elisabeth Kübler-Ross impression.

Games watched last night

1) Louisville 91, Notre Dame 89

Two overtimes is not 6 overtimes but a good game nonetheless. We thought the best moment was when Louisville brilliantly trapped out Notre Dame's Tim Abromaitis rendering him unable to even get off a shot before time expired in the second overtime. The look of frustration on the Irish bench spoke for itself.

2) Texas 77, Missouri 82

Yeah, we all saw that one coming...

March to Madness presents... Whoops

Hey, NSFW... If you look close enough.

Games watched last night

1) Wake Forest 83, Virginia Tech 87

From the bad Wake three point shot ruling to the blown Wake substitution player to the bad Tech foul-no-foul decision it was one bad call after another all game. Nothing says competent officiating like the ACC!

2) Kentucky 81, Mississippi State 75

I guess you shouldn't call opposing players nigger via text message before a crucial game. The Wildcats made Bulldog students sick by hijacking that game in overtime. To top it all off Mississippi State turned into West Virginia by throwing water bottles on the court. Stay classy Aryan youth.

Erin Andrews takes advantage of 70 year old

She looks so confused with all those screaming kids around her. We would not want our grandmas in that mess. Sad.

Monday, February 15, 2010

This is it (what?)

Congrats to Rutgers today...

They totally "Luchini"ed Georgetown last night, 71 to 78. This game wasn't on our radar but wow, what a game. We think the Scarlet Knights should get in to tournament just on that performance alone.

It never rains in Southern California

"We're going to try to show that we can play with them."
- Tyler Honeycutt, UCLA forward

Do you know who THEY are? They are the University of Southern California. Stop laughing! Remember this? Yup, the last time the Bruins played the Trojans, USC frog stomped them by 21 points. And now UCLA wants payback. Payback from a team who has removed themselves from tournament play. Payback from a team who can't even nail down recruits right now.

Yeah, good luck today we guess. Funny if they beat you again...

There will be blood

We were wrong. San Diego State drinks 25th ranked UNLV's milkshake to the tune of 68 to 58.

You bastard

This is the very definition of a cock tease (NSFW):

Why, why do you do that to us, Cort?! We count on your sage advice and you give us this? We know San Diego State will blow it and even if they don't the committee will notice that we have only one quality road win (New Mexico) this year.

What a week

Our viewing schedule:

Missouri at Baylor - 1:45 pm
Oklahoma at Oklahoma St. - 2 pm
Providence at Villanova - 2 pm
Indiana at Wisconsin - 2 pm
N.C. State at North Carolina (game of interest) - 4 pm
UNLV at San Diego St. - 4 pm
VCU at James Madison - 6 pm
Xavier at Florida - 6 pm
Georgia Tech at Wake Forest (game of interest) - 8 pm

DePaul at Seton Hall - Noon
Louisville at Syracuse - 1 pm
Ohio St. at Illinois - 1 pm

It was unanimous how rough of a week it was for all of us. We just want to drink and watch loads of basketball and pray Monday never comes. Unless it's a snow day (again) and the wives declare Sex on Monday Day.

Coach speak

"I both felt that the time away was important for my personal and professional well-being and that I am ready to move ahead from this point at full speed."
- Jim Calhoun, UConn head coach

M2M translation:

"Are you fucking kidding me? Losing 4 out of the last 5 games?! Losing to fucking Providence?! Blaney?! That's how you fucking repay me after I leave you in charge of the team you fucking cocksucker?? I'm sick as a dog and you are forcing me to come back!"

Happy Friday, Huskies.

Games Watched Last Night

1) Notre Dame at Seton Hall

And that's that. The bad news Irish lose Luke Harangody and yet another game in one night. At least they made Seton Hall happy.

2) Michigan at Minnesota

Nice road win for the Wolverines. As if it matters. At all.

Thursday, February 11, 2010

We were told that we were a little too glib about the Syracuse vs. UConn game last night. We want to make it up to you with a replay of that game complete with a baby!

There. You know we spoil ya.

Games Watched Last Night

1) Connecticut at Syracuse

Syracuse wins 72 to 67. No 6 overtimes. Meh.

2) Florida at South Carolina

Florida gets "cock" blocked 71 to 77. The Downey Ball does it again, scoring 24 points against the Gators.

March to Madness presents... Divorce

Sacred institution indeed...

Games Watched Last Night

1) Tennessee at Vanderbilt

NSFW audio... Tennessee went in and got busted in the mouth by the Commodores. At no point during that game did the Vols get even close to touching them. Correction, the Vols made it a close game in the first minute. Vandy's perimeter shooting was on fire that night. And Tennessee has Kentucky in the next couple of days. Oi vey, coach Pearl.

2) Virginia Commonwealth at George Mason

This game started out just like the Tennessee/Vanderbilt debacle. The Rams came out and busted the Patriots right in the mouth leading them by nearly 20 points at the half (sound familiar?). But George Mason just would not die, not with their home game winning streak on the line. They forced overtime and got the win in the end 82 to 77. Tennessee should have taken a page from that.

Finally subdued

West Virginia students behaved well, only fire weapons in the air. They still get beat by Villanova 82 to 75.

It's Rivalry Week!

Do you know your enemy?

Sunday, February 7, 2010

Notre Dame gets it's swagger back, beating a hot USF team 65 to 62. We honestly expected the Irish to lose here because they don't have enough Black kids. *lol*

Saturday, February 6, 2010

Thank God they are not the SEC!

Or else they would have been fined for beating Michigan State.

Go Fighting Illini.

Saturday wrap up

15th ranked New Mexico beats SDSU in overtime 88 to 86. Sigh.

No TPS reports this weekend!

Our viewing schedule:

Xavier at Dayton - 12 pm
Villanova at Georgetown - 12 pm
Wake Forest at Virginia - 12 pm
Temple at Richmond (game of interest) - 2 pm
Gonzaga at Memphis - 4 pm
Texas at Oklahoma - 4 pm
Southern Ill. at Northern Iowa (game of interest) - 6 pm
Seton Hall at Pittsburgh - 6 pm
Michigan St. at Illinois - 9 pm

South Florida at Notre Dame (game of interest) - 12 pm

If things go well we might be showing you our O-face.

Picture Pages: North Carolina edition

What the blue hell is going on with North Carolina basketball?

We still would not support the expansion of the NCAA Tournament to 96 teams even though that would allow San Diego State to get into the Big Dance because they are always the perennial bubble out team in the current 64 format.

Go Azte... Aw, fuck it.

West Virginia strikes again

At West Virginia University we know that the women are trashy. The students love to burn their furniture. At basketball games their profanity laced tirades have gotten them into hot water on more than one occasion. And now, just to top themselves they have resorted to throwing empty alcohol bottles at referees and opposing coaches during games.

"It's annoying," West Virginia forward Da'Sean Butler told reporters afterward. "It shows people outside our state that we don't have class."

Now WVU is becoming a school other schools are modeling themselves not to be.

Country, man. Pure country.

A Great White Hope?

So the Notre Dame faithful are once again wondering why the hell are they always out in the cold when the NCAA Tournament comes around? Some thoughtful editors at BlueandGold have a possible answer to this query. And believe it or not it's not coach Mike Brey's fault.

It's those damn Black kids fault!

Yes, ever since Michigan's Fab Five in 1991 college hoops has gotten darker and darker. And this has directly hurt the Fighting Irish because... well because people of African descent haven't been particularly flocking to that school.

See, Notre Dame doesn't have the street cred of say a Georgetown. Or a Duke. Bottom line is that the Irish are just too freaking White.

And according to the article they don't even bring up academics. As if that has anything to do with it.
