San Diego State's Steve Fisher has been named the 2011 Naismith Men's Basketball College Coach of the Year. Thank you for a wonderful season we will be telling our children about for years to come.

First, Ohio State will fall to Wisconsin at the Kohl Center. Everyone, everyone, and we mean everyone is predicting that. This is what we call a "Justify Your Existence" game for the Buckeyes.

The Aztecs are not a great shooting team, whether from deep or from the free throw line. As a whole the team shoots 34.2% from three, a below-average mark compared to the rest of the nation. And from the charity stripe, they’re even worse, hitting just 67% of their freebies, good for #222 out of 345 teams.

Yes, it was a pro-SDSU article, but we are sticklers for the truth. And this killed us at BYU and can kill us at UNLV or versus BYU again. Does Fisher even drill them on this?!?!

Finally, over at the now mandatory Luke Winn's Power Rankings we have this: San Diego county Jack in the Box restaurants have been giving customers free delicious curly fries each time SDSU holds an opponent to under 50 points a game. And the players are using that as an incentive -

Following an 85-53 win over Utah, SDSU forward Brian Carlwell told the San Diego Union-Tribune the fries had been motivation for late-game defense. With the Utes sitting on 43 points, Carlwell told his teammates, "They can't score these seven points in seven minutes. We got to get these fries."

We don't know whether to be amused or alarmed. But I guess we should thank SDSU alum and Jack in the Box CEO Linda Lang.

San Diego State on the front page of ESPN? This still weirds us out (and also makes us proud). If you would had told us this a mere 5 months ago we would have said "Quit smoking that rock!"

We deservedly don't get any respect yet where it matters most (coaching salaries, private flights and practice facilities). But if we can make a semi-deep run in the tournament that would change. Coach Fisher should demand it.

Not so fast my friend

This was a dream come true. We played our mythical complete game when it mattered the most. We actually were fantastic in rebounds, free throws, field goals and especially lights out three point shooting! Kawhi Leonard kept us in the game until he fouled out with 2 minutes left in the second half. New Mexico fans were so angry they were screaming at Leonard to declare for the NBA Draft after this season. D.J. Gay turned into an arc roaming monster sinking 11 three point shots.

So, did we mention we were unstoppable from the three point line? We did? Oh. But did we show you? It was quite breathtaking...



Today we really looked like an elite team for the first time.

Already, SDSU has been included in several preseason Top 25 rankings. The university’s media relations department is calling it "the most anticipated season in Aztec basketball history."

From mainstream pundits like Katz and Vitale to bloggers like Collegehoops, almost everyone has the Aztecs ranked as one of the top 25 teams in the country. Even stalwarts such as the Associated Press Content has SDSU ranked at least a tad bit outside the top 25.

With their first ever national network prime time TV game on February 26th, 2011 these are heady days for the Aztecs.

We here at M2M have a new lease on life and a new mantra; We will not take failure. Not this time. Fuck you, failure.

I hope more college guys take a look at Tyler Hansbrough, Ty Lawson, Wayne Ellington, and Danny Green and decide that they, too, want to put off the NBA for a year and try for a national championship. I want to see more teams like that. I want to see more guys who decide they can wait for the NBA. I'm just hoping it starts a trend. I hope that Tyler Hansbrough makes it cool to stay in school.

I was kinda shocked to find out that Oregon stymied the Lopez brothers. I mean, once they were both back and at full strength Stanford seemed to leap into top 25 contention.

And Oregon is very VERY inconsistent at times.

Yeah, I would have lost money on that in Vegas. Speaking of Vegas that is where I, Mr. "Blackjack Ladyfingers" will be this weekend. And you know what that means:

Lute Olson's divorce forcing kids to flee program.

UA freshman guard Laval Lucas-Perry quit the Arizona men's basketball team Monday, announcing he has decided to transfer to another school. He's undecided on where that will be.

His father, Laval Perry, did not return a call for comment.

Don't even tell me he left for another reason.
