We did it to you again!

BYU 80 - SDSU 67

That was eerily similar to last month. We need auto type for this: Once again we were victims of our own poor 3 point shooting and the inability to convert opponent turnovers into points. Add to that the embarrassing way we handled a loss on national television by throwing trash on the court. At this point we have serious doubts if we can win in the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament.

Alright, we have a bet we need to pay on -

We love you Jimmer. You're the best. Mormons own us. We suck.

Syracuse Nation is collapsing in on itself:

And by revolution we mean "revolting".

Games watched last night

Georgetown 111 - Missouri 102 in overtime

These are not your father's Hoyas. Georgetown rained down 3s (yes, we said threes as in three point shots) all game including the shot that sent the game into overtime. Plus they were devastating from the free throw line. Yes, we are still talking about Georgetown! We know! Not only was Missouri no match, we think even Duke would have had trouble (they still would have won though).

Illinois 79 - North Carolina 67

These are not your father's Tar Heels. Unfortunately we mean that in a BAD way. When the game announcers are saying during the game that you didn't deserve to be ranked in the first place that's pretty bad. When we counted the Illini fans screaming Airball at North Carolina over five times things are very bad. When the Tar Heels players were yelling at each other during the game things are downright terrible in Chapel Hill right now.

But when the Illinois kids started chanting "overrated" in the closing seconds of the game to a clearly dazed and confused North Carolina squad that was just stupid.

Haters

"What the fuck do you think a hater's job is? To fucking hate so let them motherfuckers do their damn job!"
- Katt Williams

In case you didn't hear it, the heckler he was saying "YES WAY" in response to Bruce Pearl saying "no way" to the foul that was called on one of Tennessee's players. So there, Bruce.

Games watched last night

1) Wake Forest 83, Virginia Tech 87

From the bad Wake three point shot ruling to the blown Wake substitution player to the bad Tech foul-no-foul decision it was one bad call after another all game. Nothing says competent officiating like the ACC!

2) Kentucky 81, Mississippi State 75

I guess you shouldn't call opposing players nigger via text message before a crucial game. The Wildcats made Bulldog students sick by hijacking that game in overtime. To top it all off Mississippi State turned into West Virginia by throwing water bottles on the court. Stay classy Aryan youth.

West Virginia strikes again

At West Virginia University we know that the women are trashy. The students love to burn their furniture. At basketball games their profanity laced tirades have gotten them into hot water on more than one occasion. And now, just to top themselves they have resorted to throwing empty alcohol bottles at referees and opposing coaches during games.

"It's annoying," West Virginia forward Da'Sean Butler told reporters afterward. "It shows people outside our state that we don't have class."

Now WVU is becoming a school other schools are modeling themselves not to be.

Country, man. Pure country.

Asians

Yes, we did that title for more page hits. Perverts. What's so special about Asian women?!

Anyways, Jeremy Lin, the star player on Harvard's squad is Asian American. And some people might not be so thrilled about that:

In the U.S., basketball stars are African-Americans first, Caucasians second, and Asians. . . somewhere far down the line. People can't look past his ethnicity. Everywhere he plays, Lin is the target of cruel taunts.

"It's everything you can imagine," (Lin) says. "Racial slurs, racial jokes, all having to do with being Asian." According to Harvard teammate Oliver McNally, another Ivy League player called him a c-word that rhymes with "ink" during a game last season. Just last week, during Harvard's 86-70 loss to Georgetown in Washington, D.C., McNally says one spectator yelled "sweet and sour pork" from the stands.

Wow dude, we don't know how you can take that night after night. We would have been getting technical after technical for the beatdowns we would give those rubes. Don't know how he does it.

"He gets pissed about it afterwards," says McNally. "I have to tip my hat to him. I don't know how I'd react. The type of dude I am, I might not be as mature as Jeremy."

Amen.

Bustin' shots

We can think of a couple of schools who need those shirts

So college football has their infamous make plays rant. And we have our "make shots" thing. As if that is not what they are trying to do:

Fan: What are you doing?! C'mon, we're losing! Make shots!!
Player: You know, you're absolutely right. I don't know what I was doing out there! I need to make those baskets!

Burn baby burn

Congratulations to the University of North Carolina Tar Heels for beating
Michigan State in the championship game!

Some burn things to remember. Others burn things to forget.

EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP)—Authorities have reported 12 fires and 21 arrests in the city that’s home to Michigan State University after its basketball team lost the national championship.

You will not believe it but a few of us miss this game completely. Life happens sometimes in the most cruel and unusual ways. So no post game analysis for us. And now we are done and the harsh reality of the off season is upon us. We always advise you to take care of the things you neglected during the season. Like your wife. Your kids. They probably miss you.

And this blog will switch to our off-season posting schedule starting today. Our rules of engagement will be posted tomorrow!

Now college basketball is run by them?

Note to all: When you are at a Catholic university basketball game, do NOT say derogatory things about the Jewish faith.

With five minutes left in a Creighton University basketball game at Qwest Center Omaha, a fan's angry scream rang out.

Jeffrey Aizenberg, a longtime season-ticket holder, couldn't believe what he had heard.

"It was pretty much at the top of his lungs," Jeff said. "He yelled, 'The ref is a Jew!'"

By the time Jeff called to inform CU Athletic Director Bruce Rasmussen the next morning, he learned that the fan not only had been ejected, but also that he had been banned from the Qwest Center for a year.

We are still trying to figure out what that means exactly. If he was Jewish would that mean we would call more penalties on Creighton? Because they're mackerel snappers? Because they have Black guys on their team? What?

Eh, forget it. Why analyze stupidity.

You can't eject Superfan!

Superfan means no harm. Superfan just wants to cheer his beloved New Mexico State Aggies. If that means making fun of the opponent, so be it. Superfan is up to that.

Unfortunately the police were not.

When the Aggies squared off against the Techsters of Louisiana Tech, Superfan began his usual routine of calling out to the officials, making fun of the other team in support of Aggie Basketball. When fans in the student section began cheering his name, a Louisiana Tech player took it upon himself to thank the audience.

"I told him to sit down and shut up," Superfan (James Kilgore) said. "They were cheering for me."

Then, Officer James Merrell of the New Mexico State Police Department stepped in and proceeded to tell Superfan to shut up and sit down. When Superfan protested his actions, he was promptly met with a jab from Merrell's taser. Although Merrell did not discharge his taser, the fans had already seen enough.

Superfan was eventually ejected from the game, but not without a few more taser stabs.

Now this has led to horrible outrage by the Aggie students. They love Superfan and will be protesting this injustice. We can certainly feel their pain.

Happy Friday.

Security is maximum and that's a law

You can say Providence fans are passionate. If someone has a disagreement with the referee, they'll just walk on to the court during the game and discuss the matter. But we guess the school did not like that display and now have gone all ape shit with the security.

Providence College officials said yesterday that they have taken steps to prevent a repeat of what they call an "embarrassing" incident in Saturday’s loss to Marquette University at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center.

In the second half of the nationally televised men’s basketball game, Jonathan Xavier, 24, of Pawtucket, came out of the stands and walked through the PC team bench and onto the court where he confronted a referee.

PC released a statement yesterday that read, in part, "following the incident, Providence College and the Dunkin’ Donuts Center recognized that there was a need to take precautions to prevent further incidents during our men’s basketball games. As a result, the number of security personnel was increased and uniformed Providence police officers are now strategically positioned near the team benches."

President Bush Sr. would definitely call this place Little Beirut now.

Ka-BOOM

And then there were none.

We were actually at a bar (Hooters) on Sunday morning where a friend of ours mentioned to a group of patrons that we write for Sports Illustrated (dot com)...

A Patron: Hey, you think North Carolina will go all the way and win the National Championship?
Us: I don't know.
Patron: I think they are going to go all the way undefeated and win the Championship.
Us: That would be amazing...
Patron's friend: (punches patron in the arm) See, I told you fool. No way they'll make it...

CBSSports.com wire reports - Rice proves to be bad for the heart once again as Boston College teaches the sin of hubris with the Tar Heels.

We guarantee two things this week in the blogpoll:

1) There will be at least three teams as a number one pick
2) Tennessee will drop out

In other news -

Fans are so outraged at the piss poor officiating in the BYU / Wake Forest game (49 fouls?) they start throwing all kinds of shit on the court.

The sellout crowd of 23,096, the second-largest in Marriott Center history, grew increasingly frustrated with the officiating and midway through the second half, after a foul was called on BYU's Jonathan Tavernari , the crowd threw some T-shirts and an empty water bottle onto the floor.

Images of Taiwan's parliament pop into our heads.

Finally, Britney Spears was the top scorer in win over Pepperdine.

Ha.

Two teams enter...

Jimmy Connors shows his support for UC Santa Barbara's basketball team by getting his ass thrown in jail just before tip off.

Tennis giant Jimmy Connors was arrested outside a college basketball game in California for standing his ground, police said.

Connors, 56, was ordered to move away from the entrance of the Thunderdome just before UC Santa Barbara and top-ranked North Carolina were set to play Friday night.

Top 10 Most Embarrassing Moments - #7

(Ed. Note: We will be doing a 10 part series, one a day on the 10 "most embarrassing" moments in college basketball. Now "most embarrassing" is subjective and we will admit it is only what's embarrassing to us. Also the time frame for this is since Dr. Naismith, whippersnappers.)

Moment #7 - What the hell happened? Louisville vs. South Carolina

This scuffle from 1988 was so epic and complex in it's scope that there are three more parts to it. This is what we know: 1) The announcers to this day still don't know what went wrong, 2) A Louisville player mysteriously ends up in the stands, 3) Those Gamecocks know how to punch, and 4) Fans like to fight too...

*shakes head*

Top 10 Most Embarrassing Moments - #10

(Ed. Note: We will be doing a 10 part series, one a day on the 10 "most embarrassing" moments in college basketball. Now "most embarrassing" is subjective and we will admit it is only what's embarrassing to us. Also the time frame for this is since Dr. Naismith, whippersnappers.)

Moment #10 - The start of the most bitter rivalry in basketball, Duke / UNC

Have you ever thought to yourself "What the hell is the problem between the Blue Devils and the Tar Heels?!" We understand a little healthy rivalry promotes great competition, but sometimes that can be taken too far. Enter 1961 with North Carolina hosting Duke in a "friendly" game of hoops. Up until this point there really wasn't the intense hatred they have today, but that all changed in 40 seconds of furious fists. Also, this marked the first bench clearing brawl with police involved. UNC ended up wining this game, btw.

Oh those crazy Caucasians.

No good deed goes unpunished

Man gets stabbed and beaten after trying to protect the Syracuse basketball team from fans angry about getting beat by UMass in the NIT.

A city man told police he was stabbed and beaten outside a downtown dance club early Saturday because he sided with several Syracuse University basketball players in a dispute.

While inside the bar, he (Woshua U. Kushkituah) saw several SU basketball players "being harassed by other male patrons." He did not know their names. Believing a fight imminent, Kushkituah told the players "they should leave the establishment to avoid a confrontation, in which they agreed," Officer Mehlek wrote.

Kushkituah walked them outside to a vehicle parked on Herald Place, and the players drove away. He then noticed several men had followed them to the street.

Kushkituah heard a male voice ask why he helped them. He turned to a punch in the face, fell to the ground and was kicked repeatedly. He said about 10 males took part in the beating.

Damn, poor guy. And here he was trying to be a good citizen! How many people would actually say "Hey, you guys should leave the establishment to avoid a confrontation," in that type of situation?

I think the best part of this is the club they were at is called Trexx, a huge gay nightclub in the Syracuse area. Now that is very progressive on the part of the SU players. And those are some real thuggish gay guys...

Not so euphoric for Mr. Kushkituah.

Sit right back and we'll tell a tale

A tale of UNLV's win over BYU in the Mountain West Conference championship. But not the fierce 76 to 61 victory by the Runnin' Rebels. No, we want to bring up the fan fight that happened afterward!

...at least one Cougar fan's face was bloodied in the melees, and the wife of BYU's Lee Cummard was seen grabbing the shirts of two UNLV fans trying to run onto the floor. Several witnesses also said they saw Sarah Cummard throw punches.

..."Shame on UNLV fans." (Lee Cummard said).

...rivals lashed out at those around them, and angry fans spilled over chairs, down stairs and onto the floor. Several security guards appeared to be attacked, as well.

I told you Mormons were straight gangstas.

Brave Salt Lake City Tribune photographer Chris Detrick and reporter Rhiannon Potkey narrate this sad sorted photo essay about what happened. For shame.

Excuse me....

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!11!!!1!!!!

Well then, it makes sense now!

Here is a UCLA homer's response to this.

Geez Louise...
