John Adams, head of NCAA Officiating and Coordination has recommended to the Basketball Rules Committee that they should begin using monitors to review close out of bounds calls.
Too little too late for Penn State, don't you think?
I'm sure Mr. Adams would say lo siento.

Mike Krzyzewski is the devil

There are a few of us here who feel Wake Forest should have won that game. Not that we are Duke haters, far from the truth. We are actually criticizing the Demon Deacons here. The turnover rate against the Blue Devils was amazing (can we get some stats on this?).
What about the Plumlee brothers blah blah blah.
Yeah, what about Wake's Al-Farouq Aminu's double double?
They were matching them shot per shot but then they got sloppy. Now we know coach Dino Gaudio prepares his kids better than that. And if he does then we need to think that coach K had an unfair advantage...
Or coach Gaudio sucks in big games.
You choose.

No good deed goes unpunished
Here's another sad story of the NCAA going way out of bounds. Indiana State was pretty excited getting Dwayne Lathan, a star swingman transfer from LSU. Nice kid, clean cut. He even participated in charity events.
Unfortunately for Lathan, the NCAA added a chapter that ruined the story.
Lathan has been suspended by the NCAA for the first two games of the season. Lathan, who transferred in 2008, participated in an unsanctioned 3-on-3 charity basketball event while he was still a student at Louisiana Tech in April 2008.
Suspended for a charity event. Think about that...

"I wanted to play (against) LSU, I thought that was going to be a big game for me," said a disappointed Lathan.
Hey NCAA, try some common sense in your judgments.

Washington State just wants to go home
March Madness nor the Pac-10 Conference Tournament is on the mind of WSU coach Tony Bennett. Hell, getting to 3rd or 4th place in the conference isn't even a goal at this point.
It seems that Bennett and the Cougars would rather sneak out and have blueberry almond martinis than focus on post conference play. When pressed on if he was going to even compete for the rest of the season, Bennett talks about WSU's resume thus far:
"If it's good enough to get consideration for postseason play, so be it. If not, I still want the quality of play to be there."
If not, oh well. That is the sound of a man defeated. They are only 12-11, 4-7 Pac-10. Yes, we admit that is pretty dire. But still, don't freakin' give up!
Sheez...

AAUGH....
San Diego State is playing Utah on Wednesday. At stake is sole possession of first place and an inside track for an at-large bid for the NCAA Tournament.
So let's make sure our two best players can't play.
Lorrenzo Wade, the team's second-leading scorer at 13.9 points per game, has been battling flu-like symptoms for nearly two weeks. Though he was present for yesterday's practice, Wade's participation was minimal. He began receiving intravenous fluids Sunday night after missing Saturday's game against Air Force. Fisher said Wade, who has been in bed for a week, has lost nearly 15 pounds.
Tim Shelton continues to experience soreness in his surgically repaired left knee, although he practiced yesterday for the first time since aggravating the problem Jan. 31 at Colorado State.
Figures... That's all we have to say.

Because they hate our freedom
Ole Miss coach Andy Kennedy has been arrested this morning for punching the lights out of a Muslim cabbie.
JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — A Cincinnati newspaper says police and court records show Mississippi basketball coach Andy Kennedy was arrested early Thursday on an assault charge involving a taxi driver.
Why do we bring up the cab driver's religion? Because Kennedy was saying some pretty racist things too.
(Kennedy is) accused of attacking Mohammed Ould Jiddou and hurling racial slurs at the man, according to police and court records.
Did we mention he had more than likely been drinking too? Oh yes, citizen.
Also arrested was William Armstrong, the director of operations at Mississippi, on a charge of disorderly conduct, reports show.
Reports state Armstrong, 31, was drunk and thrown out of the Lodge Bar downtown early this morning.
After that, he and Kennedy got a cab. A report says Armstrong, taunted the driver "in which his conduct was likely to cause a violent response."
All this leads to the question "Who is going to coach the Rebels tonight?!"
The ninth-ranked Louisville Cardinal and the Ole Miss Rebels will meet this evening in Cincinnati as part of the SEC/Big East Invitational.
This is the fist I make when I drink and hate
Way to go, coach.
UPDATE: If you want to know what coach Kennedy and director of operations Armstrong were drinking that night...

Isn't that nice
Hey everybody, Lorenzo Wade is back after being suspended for unplugging a TV!
We certainly could have used him during that game against Arizona State which we led all the way until the Sun Devils started to hit a barrage of threes. I wonder which Aztec is great at three point shots, hmmmmmm?
Fucker...

Top 10 Most Embarrassing Moments - #1
(Ed. Note: We will be doing a 10 part series, one a day on the 10 "most embarrassing" moments in college basketball. Now "most embarrassing" is subjective and we will admit it is only what's embarrassing to us. Also the time frame for this is since Dr. Naismith, whippersnappers.)
Moment #1 - Coach Dave Bliss tries to create drugs at Baylor
In what has to be the most chilling moment in college basketball, this sad sordid tale deals with a star player's disappearance and subsequent death and a coach's attempt to cover the whole damn thing up by lying. And this was not just some run of the mill lie, no sir. Bliss created the mother of all lies by saying that Patrick Dennehy was killed because he was dealing drugs.
Excuse me, I think I'm gonna throw up...
Bliss has been banned from coaching until 2015, but to us that will be too fucking soon.

NCAA shows disdain for Drake students
Congratulations Drake University on making it to March Madness this year! You haven't been to the NCAA Tournament since 1971. What are you gonna do now?
Plead with the NCAA to give us more freakin' tickets!!!!
When pairings are announced on Sunday, Drake will only receive 350-550 tickets —regardless of the site.
Members of Drake’s Champions Club (multi-year, $5,000 and up donors) have the right of first refusal on four tickets each. Drake says there are 40 members of that group, meaning 160 tickets could be requested.
About 100 tickets will be held for families of players and coaches, another 55 for Drake students and others will go to selected university administration and families (emphasis mine).
So lets get this straight. Approximately 84% to 90% of the Bulldogs tickets will go to faculty and staff, fat cat donors and the team's families while the STUDENTS who supported this team through the famine years get almost nothing?
Wait, it gets better...
Drake men’s basketball fans likely will have better chances to purchase tickets directly at the NCAA Tournament venues than through the university, officials said today.
As of Thursday nearly all the sites are sold out.
Yes, I believe... you have been SCREWED!
