I Before We and Drunk Cooking

So two things came to mind today while we wait for this horrible, horrible college basketball off season to end. The first is a question that comes up again and again on the blog and our Twitter Feed:

Why do you use the term "we" all the time? Isn't it just you writing? Are you schizophrenic?

Well, no. We think. Actually it goes like this; Yes, I (Gabby) write about 95% of the stuff on the Blog and Twitter. But I have friends who help me. So if I am using the term "we" that means that whatever it is that I am saying was a collaborative thought or expression. If I am using the word "I" that means it was solely me who came up with whatever crap that I am spewing.

The second thing was an overdue introduction to our audience on someone who we have been watching and laughing ourselves silly over:

This is Hannah Hart, proprietor of My Drunk Kitchen. She adeptly combines two things I love to do, cooking and drankin' to hilarious effect. Before Baby M2M was born I use to do this a lot. But Baby M2M does not allow me the quiet time necessary to nurse a hangover so I stopped. Plus Mrs. M2M says that it would be good for my health to stop too. But Hannah has taken up the slack for me. So check her out, citizens. You'll be glad you did.

Also, I do have to say that since I stopped drankin' and cooking my meals have been a whole lot more tasty. I guess that is another benefit of sorts.

Hey, we all like fudge. What? You think he said "what the fuck happened?" Naw, he's not that type of person.

Welcome to the off season of the dream

Now begins the most dreaded part of the year where there is no more college basketball left. The sadness of this consumes us. We will try and past the time with other ventures, like paying attention to our significant others. Also, this blog will downshift from the hyperactive multiple daily posts to occasional posts about our second loves like cooking, politics and college football. We will resume full power basketball operations in November.

You can still follow us on our "world famous" Twitter feed as well where the 140 character snark will probably continue uninterrupted. So be safe out there and Mahalo.

We were sitting here talking about all the crazy things that usually happen when we pack up and head out to Sin City for either the NCAA Tourney or Selection Sunday. But now with Gabby on the East Coast and a baby coming we were wondering when the next Vegas trip would be. While Gabby just likes to drink and restaurant hop, the rest of us like to actually gamble. That is what Vegas was made for, right?

So in the meantime while we wait for our next trip we do things. Things like online video poker, video roulette, or video blackjack. Well, one person here likes roulette...

Plus it's another great way to pass the time before college hoops starts.

UPDATE: Gabby just said he doesn't see himself being in Vegas anytime before 2012. Forget it then, isn't that when Hollywood says the world's gonna end?

How have you been spending the off season?

Reading about conference reorgs? Players behaving badly? Coaches behaving badly? Thankful that college football is here to bide the time? It's been eventful so far, however nothing will beat the summer of 2008 for off season shenanigans.

As for us will begin posting anew around the beginning of November. We usually post more during the summer and fall but we've been admittedly lazy this time around. And with Gabby welcoming a newborn in December it might be a little chaotic around here right at the start of the season.

Two more months to go. Just hang on.

Yes, that is life...

Tennessee coach Bruce Pearl has been a very busy bee this off-season. Yesterday he held a press conference to finally talk about what he has been doing:

1) Lying to NCAA investigators
2) Lying to NCAA investigators with the intent to hide illegal recruiting activities he and his staff were engaged in
3) Covering up lying to NCAA investigators with the intent to hide illegal recruiting activities he and his staff were engaged in

South Carolina Representative Joe Wilson had had some choice words for Pearl in light of these finding. Ultimately the hammer came down on Pearl with a one year recruiting ban for the Vols coach. In addition he has been fined $1.5 million which works out to about a $300,000 per year salary deduction on the life of his contract with Tennessee.

Some feel Pearl should be fired. Some are wondering why the hell not? We feel his 126-46 record may have something to do with that. Good job, coach!

Attention young men

So the blah blah part of the story is some University of Colorado football player provided 4 kegs to a high school party. The BEST part of the story is what happened after the beer was delivered...

One student, Tatiana Christofferson, 18, was arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault and released to her parents after deputies said she struck another girl twice and tried to push someone into one of several campfires, the Daily Camera reported. No more charges are pending against any of the students who attended the campout.

And just who is this Tatiana gal?

That's right, she cool, funny and apparently single you guys! Now that's the type of woman we like. Feisty Ukrainians who love a good fire fight.

The Rules of Engagement (off season)

Well that was fun...

Our only regret this season was not buying tickets from one of the many ticket brokers out there to go to an actual game. But such is life and more on that later. Now we start the time of year where there is no college basketball to occupy us. There isn't even so much as college football to bide our time. We call this banishment. Others have another term for it.

Yeah...

During this time of year we here at M2M switch into our off season posting rules. We are making some changes though from last year's rules:

1) Expect 1 to 2 posts a week. That will now change to whenever something interesting pops up, such as the man responsible for leading Siena to three NCAA Tournament births celebrating a little too much. Good job, Ronald!

2) Wednesday's Moment of Zen will continue. Although we would like to make this promise our wives have been completely ignored this season. We had to promise to take them out a LOT so we might not have the time to do this weekly. Save your boos until the end.

3) Off topic? Yes citizens, we will be doing a lot of off topic posts. Cooking and politics still gives us grist for the mill.

The look back / ahead
Although we didn't get tickets to any of the games we had our correspondents. Plus we organized our annual blogosphere famous trips to Vegas, this time for Selection Sunday. While that was beyond fun we really need to get our asses to actual games. Either we need to grab ourselves regular season tickets to ncaa basketball games or at the very least tickets for March Madness. Seriously, this is our goal for the 2010-2011 season. Blog brethren like Rush The Court is leaving us in the dust in this area.

So there you have it. Stay warm, keep hydrated and we will be back in force come October.

Snowbunnies and Rolondo

Funny moment - While we were watching the NFL Draft we noticed when Alabama linebacker Rolando McClain was picked he was totally surrounded by a lot of screaming White women. While there's nothing wrong with that (we guess) it made us say "Damn" out loud. Mrs. March To Madness was in the kitchen and we know she heard us but maybe not have known why we said that. Well, it looks like someone from the Twitter world noticed that too. Introducing Kentrell Lockett:

Thoughts while watching the NFL Draft

1)  Toby Gerhart got penalized for being a White running back
2)  Erin Andrews is essentially hanging out with Jimmy Clausen
3)  Can't believe Colt McCoy has fallen this low
4)  A lot of kids are crying when they are getting picked.  Must be the money!
5)  First you had wine in a box, now you have BEER in a box.  Thanks, Coors Light
6)  We think NY Jets fans would boo even if their team's selection was Jesus of Nazareth, South Galilee University
7)  The Tebow Child goes to the Broncos.  Good luck with that, guys.  Mel Kiper is pissed
8)  These pro football analysts don't know a single thing about college football.  All night we kept on thinking to ourselves "What?!"

A proper goodbye...

No, this blog is not going away. You wish.

But I did. It's Gabby, one part of the writing crew here at M2M. And no, I'm not going away from this blog either. I just left the place where I founded this blog.

Ok, see I have lived in Los Angeles for about 20 years. And because of job stuff I find myself here in Richmond, VA with Mrs. M2M. Not a huge shock for me because I was born in Hampton, VA which is about 80 miles from Richmond. So I know what to expect from the area. I was reading the awesome Snarkastic and she just moved from LA too and her post inspired me to do a similar post. Because I have no original thoughts of my own. So, here are the things I will miss the most being away from the city of angels...


1) Sunset Blvd.

This is where I first started partying at 18 years old. And this is where I had my last big night out with my friends 20 years later, eventually ending the night at Toi Thai. The restaurant that is so popular they need a doorman as well as a hostess. The choices between bars, restaurants and clubs still boggle my mind. But my fav was...

2) Red Rock

Don't tell Mrs. M2M but this was the place I probably met the most ladies at when I was single. I use to go here BY MYSELF before I knew anyone in the area. Oh, and the food is kind of good too.


3) The Arclight (formerly known as the Cinerama Dome)

Where else can you have a three star dinner, get liquored up, stumble a couple of feet and see a synapse-melting blockbuster movie on a two story high screen all in one building? That place.

4) Club Violaine. The Mayflower restaurant afterward. Locals hangout. Enough said.

5) 3.5 Hour drive to Las Vegas.

6) Elegance has a name and it is Takami. If the sashimi doesn't blow you away, the view will. I'm starting to weep a little.

It's been fun Los Angeles, but now it is time for me to settle down. Get in that good southern country living. Taking it slow.

We haven't gone away. Yes, the postings have been a little sparse as of late but we have a good reason. Our main contributor (Gabby) has moved from Los Angeles to...

...well, to here. Gabby says it was job related but we think otherwise. No matter, there can be some pros and cons to this -

Pros:
3 hour drive max to any ACC game
Lower cost of living means more money to spend on booze
Cleaner (air, people, etc.)
BBQ country

Cons:
Booze is controlled by the gubmit
Nothing to do if no basketball or football on
No more Takami Downtown
It's still the south (thinking of Deliverance)



At least Gabby excapes the dominance of USC/UCLA. Cheers and 100 cocktails to you as EDSBS would say. We will begin our 1 or more postings a day on the cusp of the 2009-2010 basketball season. In the meantime our summer posting schedule will be limited until Gabby gets settled.
