ESPN Releases College Basketball Schedule

Oh yes, we are getting closer and closer to the start of college hoops, citizens. Behold the power of the 2011-2012 TV schedule!

The one thing we immediately zoomed in on was this...

Baylor is returning some strong ballers (Scott Drew, Quincy Miller). And don't forget Perry Jones who easily compares to Kawhi Leonard. This will be a "show me" game for all the doubters who think the Aztecs will fall off this season.

We're one of them.

So in 30 days it'll be time to buckle up. Also, that is when we will start posting on a more regular basis. But in the meantime, who else is excited about the Alabama/LSU football game on November 5th?

But who is the captain?

We totally stole this from SB Nation but it was too good not to share. Can you guess what Lions coach Schwartz is saying?

We think the conversation started like this:

Schwartz: "Where's the fudge?"
Voice in headphones: "Where's the fudge... What?"
Schwartz (pictured above): "Where's the fudge, captain?!"

Hey, we all like fudge. What? You think he said "what the fuck happened?" Naw, he's not that type of person.

It's a new dawn, It's a new day

Sing it loud and proud Badgers fans...

So everyone predicted it, references were made to the Wisconsin/Ohio State football game last year and now it is here. There are no more undefeated teams as the Buckeyes lose to Wisconsin, 67 to 71.

Now now kids.

When all was lost with Ohio State up big in the second half Wisconsin came storming back big time. The Kohl Center is a rough place for visitors. We feel that Texas should be #1 on Monday (even after their close win against Baylor) but the pollsters will pick Kansas.

The BS Bowl

Hey, where is the 'C' in that title?

We took the night off last night to watch the Oregon / Auburn "National Championship" game. One because we genuinely do like college football. And two because we love to be reminded that our sport has a true playoff and national championship game. Regular content to return tonight (or tomorrow AM). God bless March Madness.

880

Why are people so concerned with Duke coach Krzyzewski and his 880 wins? He passed Dean Smith and with a handful of wins will pass Booby Knight. But who cares. Will those wins get the Blue Devils an ACC Championship? Will those wins get them another Final Four appearance?

Will those wins get Duke another National Championship?

We think not. So once again who cares. Titles are what people respect, not wins. Just ask Dan Marino.

Act like you've fucking been there, Nevada.

Tears Of Unfathomable Sadness

"In life, you can't just get married to the first girl you meet. You have to see if its right."
- Myck Kabongo

And with that Kabongo, Texas's only five star basketball recruit dumps the Longhorns:

Their football team is currently going through The Season Of Despair(tm) and now this. The days of Kevin Durant seem so far away. Oh, I believe in yesterday...

It's getting closer...

College basketball invades everywhere. Even ESPN's ubiquitous college football GameDay. Missouri supports Kentucky's Enes Kanter, y'all.

So sing songs of praise. Enes be the best since DeMarcus Cousins.

Snowbunnies and Rolondo

Funny moment - While we were watching the NFL Draft we noticed when Alabama linebacker Rolando McClain was picked he was totally surrounded by a lot of screaming White women. While there's nothing wrong with that (we guess) it made us say "Damn" out loud. Mrs. March To Madness was in the kitchen and we know she heard us but maybe not have known why we said that. Well, it looks like someone from the Twitter world noticed that too. Introducing Kentrell Lockett:

Here here. (HT: EDSBS, as always)

Thoughts while watching the NFL Draft

1)  Toby Gerhart got penalized for being a White running back
2)  Erin Andrews is essentially hanging out with Jimmy Clausen
3)  Can't believe Colt McCoy has fallen this low
4)  A lot of kids are crying when they are getting picked.  Must be the money!
5)  First you had wine in a box, now you have BEER in a box.  Thanks, Coors Light
6)  We think NY Jets fans would boo even if their team's selection was Jesus of Nazareth, South Galilee University
7)  The Tebow Child goes to the Broncos.  Good luck with that, guys.  Mel Kiper is pissed
8)  These pro football analysts don't know a single thing about college football.  All night we kept on thinking to ourselves "What?!"

Say what?

Newly commissioned BCS executive director Bill Hancock argues that the current college football BCS/Bowl System is waaaaay better than the NCAA Basketball Tournament.

We need to talk to Hancock's dealer because he's giving him some strong ass shit.

All I ever wanted...

Ex Duke basketball player and current Syracuse quarterback Greg Paulus says he only wanted to make the Orange football team better.

And Adolf Hitler technically only wanted to pull Germany out of the Great Depression.

On another note Marquette seems like they are trying to lose this game against Michigan.

Bustin' shots

We can think of a couple of schools who need those shirts

So college football has their infamous make plays rant. And we have our "make shots" thing. As if that is not what they are trying to do:

Fan: What are you doing?! C'mon, we're losing! Make shots!!
Player: You know, you're absolutely right. I don't know what I was doing out there! I need to make those baskets!

That is all.

The power of the internets

Kansas is going to be a joke this year.

There, we said it. And the Jayhawks football team heard us. Needless to say they were not to happy... at the basketball team. And they proceeded to beat them like a drum.*

Katie Summers, Tulsa junior, said she was shocked when she saw the altercation as she walked to Anschutz library.

"It was so intimidating to have these insanely big football and basketball players shouting at each other," Summers said. "I just ran to the library and got out of the way."

In the end we got guard Tyshawn Taylor with a dislocated finger.

*We hardly doubt it was our opinion that started this, but we can dream

Hater-ade

If your football program is the laughing stock of the conference and the nation, might as well take out your frustration on your stellar basketball program.

Syracuse, NY -- A former walk-on member of the Syracuse University football team remained in custody today after being charged in additional break-ins in his south campus neighborhood.

Chris A. Basile, 22, of 351 Winding Ridge Road, initially was charged Thursday with breaking into an apartment at 410 Winding Ridge Road about 5:30 a.m. that day.

Lawyer Jeffrey DeRoberts said one of the victims was SU basketball player Andy Rautins.

Hater in the house indeed... And give us three points for combining our first love (college basketball) with our second (college football) in one post. Go us.

The Rules of Engagement

We've mentioned all this in bits and pieces throughout this blog, but we thought maybe it would be a perfect time to distill it down in one bite sized post. We call these our off-season posting rules.

Now that college hoops is done, we switch over to our three other loves in life to help occupy us in the void (in no particular order):

A) College football
B) Politics
C) Cooking

So expect a healthy dose of our adventures in the kitchen, why Florida QB Tim Tebow is not a man but in fact a machine, and why we think Present Obama is the only hope you have left, citizen.

Also, we always made a point to at least post once a day, if not more. During the off-season expect us to shift that down and post 1 to 2 times a week.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Will the Moment of Zen Wednesdays continue? It's the only joy I have in my life.
Of course, meat beater. We would never give that up.

When will you stop with the off-topic crap and get back to the hoops?
Between October and November.

Does this mean you guys will NOT talk about college basketball until October?
Sure we will. If there is a breaking story or something we find interesting, you'll find it here. Like how could Kent State be so stupid as to try to recruit a guy who has previously broken commitments with Miami of Ohio, Providence, Long Beach State and Oregon State? And now it looks like he will leave the Golden Flashes for Hawaii. Good job.

What else do you guys do when there is no college hoops on?
Drink and make drinks for others to drink.
