Yeah, a little late but we wanted to point out some interesting quotes from the now jobless Tim Floyd.
In April, Floyd spurned an offer from Arizona to fill its coaching vacancy, saying he was staying at USC. A year ago, Floyd was offered the coaching job at his alma mater Louisiana State and turned it down, saying at the time, "This is my last job at SC."
The day he met reporters to say he had rejected Arizona, Floyd said, "This is still my last job."
While Floyd did not directly say he quit because of the Mayo scandal, we believe he did. But that is not the point. We raised those quotes because he seemed serious that he will never coach again after USC. He will be made out to be a liar.
And why would we think that? Hmmm.....

Beginning of the end
What do you do when your team unexpectedly loses the opening round of the first tournament of the season?
Denial: "Whaaaaaaaa? There's still time left, right? After they fouled Harvey 0.5 seconds went off the clock before they stopped it. They're gonna put some more time on the clock, right?"
Anger: "Those fucking refs! They were giving Seton Hall favorable calls all games!! Do the Pirates have some fucking Puerto Ricans on their team or something?!?!"
Bargaining: "Wait, we can fix this. There's a consolation round, right? If we can beat Chattanooga by a lot, then maybe we can talk to the officials and ask them to give us another shot. They can do that, right? It's in the by rules, right?!"
Depression: Reference picture above... :(
Acceptance: "Well, we don't have OJ Mayo anymore. It's a rebuilding year. It's all good. We'll get better. Right?"

Nothing to see here
Naw, we're not gonna comment on the O.J. Mayo mess. We've already said enough throughout the season.

Tim Floyd: Ejected
Introducing Mr. Tim Floyd, head coach of the USC Trojans. Playing the Washington State Cougars Jesus OJ Mayo was fouled. It was obvious. But the referees did not call it.
And Mr. Floyd went off. And violated the new NCAA rules regarding the coach's box.
For every rule, there must be the first one who breaks it. Congratulations!
Crappy exclusive video once again brought to you by March to Madness.

Meet the OJ Spartan
This should affect Baylor in next week's blogpoll. The Bears beat the Aggies in quintuple overtime!!!
Can you imagine how insanely tired both Texas A&M and Baylor were? Good fucking job to Baylor and they definitely deserve the This Is Sparta! award for that effort.
Party on you Bears.
Next, Carmelo Anthony determined to destroy OJ Mayo's career at the same time he goes down in flames.
The NCAA states that student-athletes may not receive "free or reduced-cost admission to professional athletics contests from professional sports organizations, unless such services also are available to the student body in general."
Mayo, averaging a team-leading 19.7 points and 4.6 rebounds, said Anthony made the offer of tickets at a party he hosted Sunday night.
"I was talking to him like, 'Man, you're out pretty late. You've got a game tomorrow night against Kobe (Bryant),"' Mayo said. "He said, 'Nah, it will be all right.' And then he asked, 'You want to come to the game?' And I was like, 'Sure."'
For the record, Carmelo's Nuggets went on to lose against the Lakers 99 to 116. Now by Carmelo saying "Nah, it will be all right," was he being the usual NBA cocky, or did he know they were gonna lose against Kobe anyway so might as well party?
The tix were courtside seats near mid-court and worth $230 each. I guess Mayo is relieved he didn't have to pay to see his buddy get beat down...
Nice seats...

Billy Donovan finally replaces Joakim Noah
Super recruit Erik Murphy commits to Florida giving people an OJ Mayo for the East Coast.
"Overall, I loved everything about it," Murphy said. "I felt comfortable after taking a visit there. I was ready to go, but my dad wanted me to wait and make sure I still felt the same way. I still feel the same way."
Translation: I'm gonna be neck deep in Gainesville punani and barbecue so hell yeah I wanted to go! True dat!
But my dad wanted to make sure Coach Donovan took care of the family too if you know what I mean. Once that was set, I hit up coach's digits.
We've written about Murphy before and the insanity around his recruitment. But for every hyper recruited and worshiped Kobe Bryant JJ Reddick Adam Morrison Michael Jordan there will be at least 30 Latrell Sprewells, Joakim Noahs, and Ron Arrests... I mean Artests. Freudian slip there. Yeah.

Anatomy of a meltdown...
I watched the Washington State / USC game last night and what amazed me was NOT the insane skills of the Cougars' perimeter shooters, but the way USC completely and utterly lost control of that game in the second half.
Halftime: WSU - 27 / USC - 23
In the second half, the mixture of turnovers, bad shot selections and JesusOJ Mayo trying to once again be a one man show led to the Cougars outscoring the Trojans by 15 points!
15!
By itself 15 is not THAT big, but it was just the way they got the 15. By shutting down SoCal so thoroughly.
Is that a UCLA scout?
Onwards...
Yeah, what IS going on with those ankles? As College Hoops Journal has mentioned it seems to be ankle season right now. Dayton's star player Chris Wright broke his ankle against scrappy Rhode Island yesterday. Dayton is currently ranked 14 in the Blogpoll, and I am thinking they will start to fall out without Wright. Right?
Ms. Andrews strikes again! Now I have never understood the fascination that people have with this woman...
But when the freakin' Wisconsin student section start ejaculating her name in unison, then Brent Musberger and Steve Lavin join in the masturbation-fest...
(HT: NCAA FanHouse)
Well, maybe I need to research her appeal further. She looks like just another boring blond to me folks. Kinda like Wendy Nix.

Fortune favors the bold
Maryland fan dreams of March Madness meeting with USC...
Says Terp fan: "Their senior Forward Bambale Osby, 6-8 250 will go right over O.J. Mayo. No chance."
You know you're in for a long season when you say ANYTHING close to "They got a couple of good freshmen"...

Ummmm... Yeah...
When. Will. You. Listen. To. Me?
O.J. Mayo cannot do it alone and it showed with a total lackluster performance by his marry band of men.
I said at the sports bar at Indian Wells (which I totally find offensive, they are not from India) that no matter the awesome range of Mayo, he cannot take over a game. Not yet.
In other news, I was dead wrong about the BYU / Long Beach State game. The 49ners ain't ready yet.

Must see TV?
The SportingNews lists their "can't miss" games of the upcoming season. Let's take a look, shall we?
Arizona at Kansas on Nov. 25
Sure, I can miss that one! Kansas just has too much firepower on the perimeter. That game is gonna be lights out for the Wildcats. You heard it here first.
Gonzaga at Connecticut on Dec. 1
Only a can't miss game if both are up there in the rankings. The Zags can be inconsistent while Connecticut doesn't seem to get hot until January. Plus the Huskies fans don't seem to care that much about basketball at the moment. Can't really make a prediction on that one yet. You heard it here first.
Speaking of the Zags, here's an oldie but goodie...
North Carolina at Kentucky on Dec. 1
Kentucky, Kentucky, Kentucky. Outside of my fascination with their cheerleaders, I need to see what Billy Gillispie does. If I need to pick now, I would say UNC in a close game with that senior leadership they have. You heard it here first.
Southern California vs. Memphis on Dec. 4
What, are you kidding me? O.J. Mayo against Derrick Rose, Robert Dozier and Chance McGrady? The Tigers slap the Trojans around like the bitches they are. You heard it here first.
Georgetown at Memphis on Dec. 22.
Now THIS is a can't miss game! Finesse (Memphis) against power (Georgetown). Memphis can't afford to get into a paint battle with Roy Hibbert and Georgetown can't afford to get into a sharp shooting battle with the Tigers. I honestly can't pick this one, but I will be glued to the TV and possibly liveblogging (I found this really cool tool that allows me to do it very easily). You heard it here first.
Happy Friday to ya!

Should you trust Vegas?
That is where the smart money is. I mean the casinos. The sports books. They are smarter than us. If they weren't, they would be broke, the odds makers would be fired, living on the charity of the nickel slots at Binion's.
Dear God please, the Ohio State line didn't work,
I HAVE to pay RENT!
One of my favorite things to do is checking the Vegas odds on college hoops. Just as another POV mind you. And I saw this...
Mississippi State at #53 and Davidson at #64. Both teams are on the blogpoll top 25. What does that mean exactly. Nothing. It just says that Vegas thinks we are wrong. And that makes me nervous.
Oh. Hold on. My lawya wants to say something.
Disclaimer: March To Madness would never condone college sports betting nor would use Vegas odds in his own blogpoll ballot unless stated explicitly in any said post at any said time and for any said reason until rescinded or altered by March To Madness. Void in Nebraska.
Finally some sanity! The Sporting Network has it's Pac-10 preview out and puts the Trojans in a realistic view, placing them to finish 8th in conference.
Three double-digit scorers are gone from last year's squad, as Nick Young, Lodrick Stewart and Gabe Pruitt combined for 43.8 ppg. Replacing that production will be tough.
But heck, O.J. Mayo will be exciting to watch, huh? Especially come March when he is picking his nose on the sofa.
They also have Arizona finishing 4th. But they always choke come March.

Smorgasbord
Ooooooooooo-kay.JesusO.J. Mayo breaks someone's face in practice. Later, Mayo posed with an adoring fan who could care less about anyone else on the team.
My, you sure have big...ummm......feet
No, I'm not going to talk more about coach Kelvin GumpSampson. Just going to say that Fran Fraschilla from ESPN agrees with me (you will need to be a stupid ESPN "insider" to read the article).
Notre Dame's coach Mike Brey wonders what they can do to get better for this season. Yeah, I have an idea. Get your kids to stop smoking the dope.
Remember when IUPUI was in March Madness a few years ago? People were like "Who the fuck is THAT?!" Well, according to a few sports pundits they might be back this year. Get the jokes ready!!!

The Polish Connection
(Just like French but with more kielbasa!)
Mmmmmm, kielbasa...
Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski calls in a favor and lands Rivals Top 100 prospect Olek Czyz. Duke Athletic Director Joe Alleva commented by saying that the two will celebrate the signing afterwards by singing the Mazurek DÄ…browskiego and doing a quick polka.
Pomyśleć jestem sexy?
From bad to worse - Mike DeCourcy from The Sporting News points out another bad sign for Tennessee:
"True or false: You can win the national title without a post presence on either offense or defense. Tennessee would really like the answer to be true. It's false."
Ouch! He also takes a quick strike at O.J. Mayo.
(bow down)
Happy Friday to you!

The legend of Ovinton J'Anthony Mayo
USC definitely boosts it's stock with the signing of O.J. Mayo, the world's nation's top point guard prospect. His amazing abilities both on and off the court are something to marvel at...
* Averaged 20.5 a game as an eighth-grader, leading his school to its first Kentucky state tournament
* Won the Mr. Ohio Basketball title, the second sophomore ever to win the award behind LeBron "King" James
* Knowledge of the Force rivals that of Master Sidious. Can deploy thought bombs to render all opponents impotent
* Led Rose Hill (KY) Christian Academy to the Sweet 16. He was named first team all-state in 2002-03
* Co-MVP of Reebok's ABCD underclassman all-star game
* Helped China ratify the Kyoto Protocol treaty while scoring 200 80 points against Mater Dei High School
* Ranked by Rivals.com as the #1 player in the 2007 class
* Over a three minute span in the fourth quarter of the Roundball Classic he had 13 points and 2 assists, cutting his opponent's lead from 25 points to 11
* Cock size listed at an official 6 feet flaccid
We are all witness. Even with the technical.

I'm gonna sue! Well, no...
Rutger's Kia Vaughn has dropped her lawsuit against Don "Crazy Honkey" Imus.
Who you callin' "nappy headed"?!
In what amounts to one of the most skull crushing schedules so far, The University of Rhode Island plays the following teams this season:
UAB, Boston College, Toledo, Syracuse, Texas A&M, Duquesne, George Washington, St. Bonnaventure, Richmond, Dayton, Xavier and LaSalle.
Rhode Island... Pwnd!
Oh, almost forgot. Jesus O.J. Mayo is here!!! USC is gonna be in the Final Four now!
And now, your moment of Zen. You deserve it.
