The Chinese don't like Blacks anyway

What started as a friendly game of basketball between the Georgetown Hoyas and China's Bayi Rockets turned real ugly real fast as a full scale riot erupted on the court:

A woman sitting in the Georgetown fan section directly behind the bench implored Chinese police to try to calm the situation, saying someone was going to get hurt. The Chinese police had been watching the tensions escalate to the point of physical confrontations but made no attempts to break up any of the fights taking place on the court.

Well, you know what we always say... Don't go to foreign countries.

The Kent State/Akron melee

Akron won the MAC Conference final on some crazy defense in overtime. Apparently Kent State didn't approve of the way the Zips were celebrating. And then all hell broke loose.

Heartbreaking loss by the Golden Flashes marred by misplaced emotions. These teams really hate each other.

St. John's gets St. Johned

Seton Hall wins, game quickly spirals out of control

Well that was entertaining. We got a decent basketball game and a good old fashioned brawl all wrapped together. With the game in hand the players decided to start throwing each other around which resulted in technicals and ejections. Anyways, the Red Storm already played themselves into the NCAA tourney and the Pirates are, well, Not Invited.

An ode to Renardo Sidney

You're the one for me, fatty
You're the one I really, really love

And you will stay
Promise you'll say
If a teammate gets in your way
You're the one for me, fatty
You're the one I really, really love
And you will stay
Promise you'll say
If a teammate gets in your way
A-hey

All over Missi State
Some fights and some brawls
All over Missi State
Some improper benefits y'all
Oh

You're the one for me, fatty
You're the one I really, really love
And you will stay
Promise you'll say
If a teammate gets in your way
You're the one for me, fatty
You're the one I really, really love
And you will stay
Promise you'll say
If a teammate gets in your way
A-hey

Now give some love to your boy, R-Stans!

Kansas Jailhawk

So, Kansas guard Mario Little has been arrested yesterday and subsequently suspended by coach Bill Self. The folks here at the M2M Research and Development Department have come up with some handy illustrations to help explain what happened to Little:

According to Lawrence Police Sgt. Matt Sarna, Little went to 1231 Ohio Street early this morning to see his girlfriend, a 22-year-old Lawrence resident who is a former KU basketball manager.

Little got into an altercation there with a 19- year-old man who's a member of the KU baseball team.

Little's girlfriend then ran to a friend's apartment at 1241 Ohio, where a gathering was taking place. Little followed his girlfriend and entered the apartment, where he allegedly pushed another 22-year-old woman in an attempt to find his girlfriend. After finding his girlfriend in an upstairs bedroom, Little allegedly battered her and pushed her into a sink.

Another man, a 24-year-old male Lawrence resident, tried to break up Little and his girlfriend and was shoved into a desk by Little. Several persons subdued Little until police arrived at about 2:45 a.m. and arrested him.

The 19-year-old man suffered minor injuries to his head, and Little's girlfriend had injuries to her neck, but neither were treated at the scene. Little was booked at 5:14 a.m. on four counts of battery, two counts of criminal damage to property and one count of criminal trespass.

Now if all this plays out it will be an incredible end to a 2nd string player. God speed.

Attention young men

So the blah blah part of the story is some University of Colorado football player provided 4 kegs to a high school party. The BEST part of the story is what happened after the beer was delivered...

One student, Tatiana Christofferson, 18, was arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault and released to her parents after deputies said she struck another girl twice and tried to push someone into one of several campfires, the Daily Camera reported. No more charges are pending against any of the students who attended the campout.

And just who is this Tatiana gal?

That's right, she cool, funny and apparently single you guys! Now that's the type of woman we like. Feisty Ukrainians who love a good fire fight.

Holy crap!

That's exactly what we said to ourselves when we read this. We're not big fans of women's b-ball but sometimes you just have to take notice. Especially when two of your star players beat the bejebus out of a little ol' cheerleader:

Amanda Hanneman and Jessra Johnson, the Tigers leading scorers, were arrested early Friday morning after Justin Short, a Missouri cheerleader, called police complaining there were people who would not leave his apartment. When police arrived, Short said he had been assaulted by the basketball players and he was taken to a hospital with a swollen nose and a cut on his eye.

Amanda             Jessra

Justin

Missouri's coach Cindy Stein has indefinitely suspended Amanda and Jessra for late night brawling. Believe it or not Justin has been suspended too. Probably a PR move to minimize the embarrassment he's suffering.

UPDATE: More over at Busted Coverage.

What the hell is ADD

First -

Damn that Hamas/Israeli military clash! The Turks vs. Jews basketball game has been canceled. C'mon guys, can't we all just get along?

Not cool

Second -

Cal State Northridge's coach Bobby Braswell is an old school dad. When his son and two other players on his team were arrested he was asked about posting bail for his son. Response?

"Just put it this way, I fulfilled a promise that I made. I told my children a long time ago that there's responsibilities that they have."

So he let him rot in jail for three days. Nice.

Third -

Morehead State forward Maze Stallworth has been suspended indefinitely for using OPC (Other Peoples Credit cards). The thing about this is that he has been charged with a felony because he spent over $100, but the bail was posted for $500. So we're thinking that the actual amount is probably between the two, so an indefinite suspension seems excessive for one of your leading scorers.

Yeah, we usually come down hard on this stuff. But to a point. Maybe 1 month suspension while they sort it all out?

Fourth -

This marks the first weekend where we have nothing to do. No responsibilites are holding us back. We cleared it with the wives. So be prepared for weekend posts, an impromptu livebog, etc. And lots and lots of drankin'!

Happy Friday.

News!

No wasting time with a cute setup, we are barreling in.

First, Illinois guard Jamar Smith loves to drink. Even at the risk of jail and being thrown off the team.

According to Champaign police, officers were dispatched to East Green Street at 2.30 a.m. Friday on a report of criminal damage to a business.

Upon arrival, police said, officers ordered the group, including Smith, to clear the area in order to prevent further altercations. Smith and several other males left the area but continued to return several times. While being warned by the officer a third time, police noticed a strong odor of alcohol coming from Smith. The officer recalled his probationary status ordering him to refrain from the use of alcohol.

Tony Stark would be proud

Second, West Virginia guard Joe Mazzulla and forward Cam Thoroughman feel the same way we do about baseball. The damn sport is so boring you have to imbibe. But we differ in the opinion that once you've got your buzz on you should go ahead and fight with police.

Mazzulla and Thoroughman were detained by off-duty police officers working at the game. The players then were brought to a security station, where the situation escalated. Both failed to provide accurate ages and identities.

Thoroughman reached across a counter at an officer. Additional officers tried to control Thoroughman, who continued to resist and ultimately was subdued with pepper spray.

Mazzulla attempted to pull Thoroughman away from the officers and is said to have tried to punch one before he also was subdued.

And finally, Mississippi State guard Phil Turner seems to not understand the command "come out with your hands up!" after he caused a ruckus at an apartment complex.

Starkville Police records allege the 20-year-old Turner would not comply with an officer's requests to show his hands and had to be forced to have handcuffs put on him. An unsigned narrative of the arrest alleges Turner twice refused to sit on the ground and had to be forced to the ground.

Wow wow wow, a very busy couple of days out there. Try and be cool guys, we have a long way to go before the start of the season.

3 for the road...

First up, West Virginia's Bob Huggins has clause in his contract stating that he can be fired for being drunk. Especially driving drunk.

A West Virginia spokesman said that is a standard clause in employment contracts.

Yeah... Because we all know Huggins would never do something as crazy as driving while intoxicated.

Oh no, not at all officer.

Next up, South Carolina guard Devan Downey works out during the off-season by punching students in the face.

Downey, 20, was charged with hitting another student on April 25 shortly before noon, according to the warrant that was signed by the student, Curtis D. Lowery II.

The arrest stemmed from an incident last week between Downey and another student he knew, school spokesman Russ McKinney said.

Police were called to the scene, but neither Downey nor the other student wanted to press charges, McKinney said, and there was no incident report written up.

Wait, you don't understand. Coach said I need to work on my hand-eye coordination. Stand still...

Finally, we got some FnDC (fighting in da club)! Binghamton University forward Miladin Kovacevic got his stupid self thrown in jail for opening a can of whoop ass on some poor bar patron.

A Binghamton University sophomore was arrested Sunday and charged with second-degree assault, a felony, after police said he repeatedly kicked someone in the head early Sunday morning in a downtown bar.

Miladin "Minja" Kovacevic, 20, was accused of causing serious head injuries to an unidentified person inside the Rathskeller night club on 92 State Street in Binghamton. The bar was open during the incident and police said there were witnesses.

I imagine serious head injuries can be done by a 6 foot 9, 260 pound Serbian. I wonder did the guy make fun of his name. Minja... Sounds like a female version of ninja.

Top 10 Most Embarrassing Moments - #7

(Ed. Note: We will be doing a 10 part series, one a day on the 10 "most embarrassing" moments in college basketball. Now "most embarrassing" is subjective and we will admit it is only what's embarrassing to us. Also the time frame for this is since Dr. Naismith, whippersnappers.)

Moment #7 - What the hell happened? Louisville vs. South Carolina

This scuffle from 1988 was so epic and complex in it's scope that there are three more parts to it. This is what we know: 1) The announcers to this day still don't know what went wrong, 2) A Louisville player mysteriously ends up in the stands, 3) Those Gamecocks know how to punch, and 4) Fans like to fight too...

*shakes head*

Moment #8 - Down goes the ref! Wyoming vs. New Mexico

This is the Mountain West, stuff like this doesn't happen. Well, apparently it does... What started as a silly brawl quickly turns into an ugly pile on with the referee on the bottom getting kicked and punched as he tries to protect a New Mexico player from the Wyoming barbarians. No good deed goes unpunished. But New Mexico clearly shows they don't put up with that shit as Jamal Smith goes nuclear and nearly gets decked by his own coach.

Moment #9 - Minnesota vs THE Ohio State University groin punch head stomp game

Breathtaking in its sheer violence, this moment from 1972 left one player nearly unconscious. Not only does the poor TOSU guy get kneed in the balls by a Minnesota punk, he then gets stomped on his dome. Way to go Gophers!

Moment #10 - The start of the most bitter rivalry in basketball, Duke / UNC

Have you ever thought to yourself "What the hell is the problem between the Blue Devils and the Tar Heels?!" We understand a little healthy rivalry promotes great competition, but sometimes that can be taken too far. Enter 1961 with North Carolina hosting Duke in a "friendly" game of hoops. Up until this point there really wasn't the intense hatred they have today, but that all changed in 40 seconds of furious fists. Also, this marked the first bench clearing brawl with police involved. UNC ended up wining this game, btw.

Oh those crazy Caucasians.
