This was the only good thing that happened in Vegas last night

Lorena Peril, star of the semi-nude Fantasy show at the Luxor prepares to sing to UNLV fans.

Then those fans quickly lost their erections as that powerhouse Colorado State demolished the Rebels on their home floor. Ouch.

So the question is where does UNLV go from here? It only gets worse with remaining games at New Mexico, at Brigham Young and vs. San Diego State (maybe). If they can't notch a quality win from one of these three then they might just need to win the MWC tournament outright to get into the Madness.

The Rules of Engagement (off season)

Well that was fun...

Our only regret this season was not buying tickets from one of the many ticket brokers out there to go to an actual game. But such is life and more on that later. Now we start the time of year where there is no college basketball to occupy us. There isn't even so much as college football to bide our time. We call this banishment. Others have another term for it.

Yeah...

During this time of year we here at M2M switch into our off season posting rules. We are making some changes though from last year's rules:

1) Expect 1 to 2 posts a week. That will now change to whenever something interesting pops up, such as the man responsible for leading Siena to three NCAA Tournament births celebrating a little too much. Good job, Ronald!

2) Wednesday's Moment of Zen will continue. Although we would like to make this promise our wives have been completely ignored this season. We had to promise to take them out a LOT so we might not have the time to do this weekly. Save your boos until the end.

3) Off topic? Yes citizens, we will be doing a lot of off topic posts. Cooking and politics still gives us grist for the mill.

The look back / ahead
Although we didn't get tickets to any of the games we had our correspondents. Plus we organized our annual blogosphere famous trips to Vegas, this time for Selection Sunday. While that was beyond fun we really need to get our asses to actual games. Either we need to grab ourselves regular season tickets to ncaa basketball games or at the very least tickets for March Madness. Seriously, this is our goal for the 2010-2011 season. Blog brethren like Rush The Court is leaving us in the dust in this area.

So there you have it. Stay warm, keep hydrated and we will be back in force come October.

The party's over

We are set to leave Vegas in four hours but why are we still at a bar?  This was taken at the West Wing lounge at MGM.  We're still in the afterglow of having 4 teams get into the tournament from the Mountain West.  Let's dance!

Take me to another place

They put us against Tennessee?  How fucked up is that?

Welcome to Selection Sunday

Good morning, America

Just finished watching SDSU coach Steve Fisher being interviewed on SportsCenter at the MGM Grand.  *we're tearing up here*

Win the MWC and leave no doubt

Let's dance

I'm tired

Here is someone not excited about the UNLV/SDSU matchup...  It's gonna be a blowout.  ;)

It's 4:19 AM

And we are STILL celebrating SDSU's win over 8th ranked New Mexico.  We are so proud to be Aztecs right now.  Maybe that was the alcohol talking.

We're at some bar at MGM Grand.  Life is good.

Buca di Beppo

This was where we were when we found out that SDSU beat New Mexico in the semis of the MWC Tourney...

Bad pic but good story

First, the thing you have to know about these UNM fans is that they are shy.  Don't take their picture.

Or maybe we are creepy guys who no one wants their picture taken from.  Anyways the Lobos fans are worried because they feel SDSU will play them close.  We already won one game with them.  They don't feel it's a lock because the Aztecs are playing for their lives and New Mexico is already in.  We beg to differ.

We were hoping for a better pic with a bunch of Lobos women but they shot us down real quick.  Such is life.

Left on a jet plane

That's right. Watch out. Happy Friday to you too.

Game watched last night

1) Large white women shaking their big breasts

We love love LOVE these one bid conference championship games. These kids get really excited and play like their lives depend on it. Robert Morris went down to the wire playing Quinnipiac‎ and eventually punched their ticket winning 52 to 50. There really hasn't been a dull one yet and to be honest we really haven't been watching many of the major tournaments. Of course we'll watch some of the Mountain West tourney since we will be only 10 miles away from it. Maybe we'll even make a few bets play a few SETS. Of roundball. Yeah, that's what we meant.

And Robert Morris is located in Pittsburgh btw.

This is it

You think that maybe it's over.
Only if you want it to be.
Are you gonna wait for your sign? Your miracle?
Stand up and fight!

Our viewing schedule:

SATURDAY

Cincinnati at Georgetown - 12 pm
Maryland at Virginia - 1:30 pm
Syracuse at Louisville (game of interest) - 2 pm
South Carolina at Vanderbilt - 2 pm
Texas at Baylor (game of interest) - 4 pm
UAB at UTEP - 9:05 pm

SUNDAY
Florida at Kentucky - 12 pm
Wisconsin at Illinois - 2 pm

So get in, sit down and hold on. 5 more days to Vegas and 8 more days until we know.

We were born travelin' men

We will be in Las Vegas the weekend of the NCAA Tournament Selection announcement (Sunday, March 14th for those in the know). Our lil' sis-in-law is turning 21 but that was just the excuse to do this (bwahahaha). We will also have new app toys that will allow us to do mobile postings. Yes, us drunk at casino sports books posting about college b-ball. You say it is against the law to bring cellular phones inside sports books? Just let them try to stop us. We can break those cuffs.

So hope you'll join us. You never know what will happen when we are in Sin City.

Busy work day

Sorry about being lite on the posting, real life is slapping us around and calling us Susan. But Vegas was fun! We watched the UConn/Michigan State game at Sushi Samba at the Palazzo:

After stuffing ourselves with sashimi and Sapporo we rolled out of the restaurant and on to the casino floor totally forgetting about the UNC/Villanova game. But it looks like we didn't miss much there as Nova got punched in the mouth.

Weekend out

Dr. Saturday is money. Hat tip to you sir for calling our attention to this article from ONIONS!!! Sorry, The Onion. Got a little Raftery in us.

Again, The Onion shows us what true genius is about.

We will be going to Vegas this weekend to watch the Final Four among other things. Actually by the time you read this we may already be in our cars driving there (thank you auto post). We don't think our room has internet access because we are too cheap. But if it does, then expect some posts from Sin City during the games. Expect some cheesecake photos as well because one of our hobbies is making fun of that ONE drunk girl at the casino bar.

Taking stock

We have always said never bet against Vegas. Those casinos and their sports books are rich for a reason. They know more than us. But this just caught us by surprise:

The folks at Bodog have released the full set of betting odds for the rest of the tournament, and North Carolina enters the Sweet 16 as the favorite to win the national championship. The Tar Heels are listed at 3/1 odds, followed by fellow No. 1 seeds Louisville (4/1), Pittsburgh (6/1) and Connecticut (6/1).

UNC we can accept. Pitt we can accept for being a 6/1 shot right now. We don't expect them to make it to the Final Four the way they have been playing, even though they are in our championship game bracket. But Louisville as a 4/1 shot?! Por que? We think UConn or UNC could beat the Panthers, but Pitino?

We won't question you, Sin City. You've made a fool out of us many times.

Bettors corner - The Big One

(Editor's note: This is part of an ongoing series focusing on the betting side of NCAA basketball. We never said that we were pure souls and we love to venture to Vegas during March. But our lawya wants us to say "for entertainment purposes only". There, we said it. Happy?)

Hey kids, remember when CBS Sports had that countdown to this game like THREE MONTHS early?

Well, this game is finally upon us. In case you really need the particulars...

North Carolina vs. Duke
Cameron Indoor Stadium, Durham, NC
6:00 PM PST, February 11, 2009

What Vegas is saying: Prelim line has UNC -3

What M2M is saying:

Duke's got this.

Why: Word has it that both Paulus and Henderson will be on the court together for a spell in some type of hybrid guard role. If that is true, this alone would negate any affect Hansbrough could have on the game. But if not, don't expect Ty Lawson to step it up. It is pretty well known he has trouble with ball screen switches and Duke has been ramping those up as of late. Which leaves Wayne Ellington and Ed Davis for the Tar Heels against Kyle Singler and Jon Scheyer for the Blue Devils. Yikes. This can only lead to one thing...

Good night and happy hunting.

Psych!

We did have an apology post up for not having anything today, but we took it down because it looks like our day just opened up.

Now here is some suspended news, but without the John Mayer metrosexual vibe...

Junior forward Kenny Cooper is suspended for the season at Louisiana Tech for repeatedly fucking up.

"Unfortunately, Kenny is not willing to make the commitment necessary to remain a member of our team, (coach Kerry) Rupp said in a statement released through the La.Tech media relations department. "He will continue on scholarship for the remainder of the year which will allow him to concentrate on obtaining his degree."

At least he gets to keep his scholarship ride. Nice.

Mizzou senior forward Leo Lyons is suspended indefinitely for:

a) driving without the car’s lights on (at 11 pm at night)
b) no proof of insurance
c) an outstanding warrant for his ass

All of this led the cops to say "Welp, we gotta arrest you now. Don't think you'll be playing at the Colorado game."

Hey, did you hear that Bob Knight and Billy Packer are going to host a series of 1 hour college basketball analysis shows?

In Las Vegas. At the Wynn Sports Book.

Something doesn't seem quite right with that. We would think that the NCAA may raise an eyebrow. We know they are not coaches or players or school admins, but still. They lend a certain bit of credibility which could be tarnished as people are walking by them saying things like:

"Packer just said UNC's gonna win at Duke! I'm putting my kids college fund money on that!"

Meh.
