St. John's gets St. Johned

Seton Hall wins, game quickly spirals out of control

Well that was entertaining. We got a decent basketball game and a good old fashioned brawl all wrapped together. With the game in hand the players decided to start throwing each other around which resulted in technicals and ejections. Anyways, the Red Storm already played themselves into the NCAA tourney and the Pirates are, well, Not Invited.

The whole story on Brandon Davies dismissal from BYU

Scene: Monday evening, February 28th around 8:45 pm in Provo, UT. BYU forward Brandon Davies is walking home from the school library. An unassuming gentleman with a short sleeve white shirt and black tie approaches...

Unassuming gentleman: "Hey, you're Brandon Davies!"
Davies: "Yes."
Unassuming gentleman: "Cool, great win against San Diego State! You guys swept them."
Davies: "Yeah, thanks man."
Unassuming gentleman: "Your rebounds and assists were crucial in that game. You kept the momentum from swinging to those guys."
Davies: "Yeah. We were just working hard against a real good team."
Unassuming gentleman (extending hand to shake): "Indeed! By the way, my name is Marcus. Pleasure to meet you. I'm a big fan of yours."
Davies (reciprocates handshake): "Nice to meet you... Wait, did you say you're a fan of mine?"
Marcus: "Yes!"
Davies: "What about Jimmer?"
Marcus: "Yeah, he is good too. But I am a student of the game and I know that without a great supporting cast he would not be all that. Plus I like the unsung heroes."
Davies: "Wow, thanks a lot. I appreciate that."
Marcus: "No problem. Hey, I have a friend that I would like you to meet."
(A mysterious woman appears from the bushes wearing a long buttoned up brown trench coat. Davies recognizes her immediately.)
Davies: "Uhhhhh, that's my girlfriend. Hey honey, why are you dressed like that?"
Marcus: "Oh, she has a present for you. To celebrate your win."
Davies: "Honey, how do you know this guy?"
Girlfriend: "Brandon baby, this is for you. I think it's time now."
(She unbuttons her coat and exposes herself to the chilly night air)
Davies (jaw drops): "What. The. Fuuuuuu..."
Marcus: "Yes sir."
Davies: "Honey, you know we can't do that. The Code and all."
Marcus: "Aw, come on. She's a Black man's kryptonite! A White girl with a big booty. We call 'em PAWGs around my area. How you resisted for so long amazes me. Just let yourself go, no one is looking."
Davies: "Uhhhhhh....."
Girlfriend: "Take me, take me now Brandon!"
(Davies almost uncontrollably grabs her luscious rear end and starts kissing her. Amazingly, BYU's Athletic Director Tom Holmoe just happens to strolls by)
Holmoe: "What is going on here?! Mr. Davies, you know how seriously we take the Honor Code."
Davies: "But but but..."
Holmoe: "I will need to have a talk with coach Rose about this."

Brandon looks around for help but unable to find any as Marcus and Davies' girlfriend have run off. The only thing that he sees is a crumpled game program on the ground that says "SDSU - BYU, Saturday, February 26th @ Viejas Arena" on it.

fin.

Someone had a real sucky birthday

North Carolina 72 - Florida State 70

UNC forward Harrison Barnes single-handedly killed this team. Score 69 to 68 with 30 seconds left Barnes just calmly takes the ball down the court, waits a few seconds and hits a 3. Tar Heels win in a hostile environment with a pretty good team that pushed them to the limit. Every game it seems North Carolina is proving us a little more wrong about them.

So BYU, New Mexico and SDSU walk into a bar...

Hey, what happens when a team that swept you gets swept by a team you swept?

Conference Armageddon.

Minnesota's final chapter

Start spreading the news, we're leaving this March
Looks like we're a part of it - the N.I.T
These shiny black shoes, are longing to stray
But first let's get to it - the N.I.T

We wanna wake up in a city, that doesn’t sleep
And find we're king of the hill - top of the heap

These Twin City blues, are melting away
The Gophers will make a new start of it - at The Garden in New York
If we can make it there, could we make it anywhere?
It’s up to you - Madison Square, New York

Poll Dancing

Questions?

Ummm, yeah, how come SDSU is ranked so far down with only two loses and there are other teams with more loses ranked above us? Our best wins are... well... we have no best wins really. Sure we have beaten St. Mary's, Gonzaga and Wichita State but no current teams in the top 25 to speak of. However Notre Dame, Texas and Pitt have multiple wins against current top 25 talent. Frankly we still feel we are a bit too high.

Hey, BYU leapfrogs from 7 to 3 and nearly 6 spots above us. Are they really THAT good? Are you kidding us? Granted we are not top 10 talent but the fact that they have an All American/All Wooden/All World/POY type player in James Taft Fredette AND the fact that even THEY have beaten current top 25 talent makes them deserving.

Why do they keep rotating the same three damn teams into the number one spot? Why won't they let another team have it? We dunno. Hard to let go of the ones you love? Ask Gary Parrish.

Will BYU get the number one seed come tournament time? If the Cougars can win their last two games and win the Mountain West tournament then yes. If not then no. If SDSU does the same then still no. Kansas and Ohio States are locks. Pitt and Duke need to have a good showing come their conference tourney time. BYU (if they do what we said) could knock off Duke from that final number one seeding.

More tea anyone? No? Then return to your posts, citizens.

Villanova's season...

Like this firework the first half of the Wildcats season was a wild geometric ascent to the top of the rankings. And then they came crashing down in breathtakingly spectacular fashion. Sure, most of the losses are coming at the hands of of ranked teams but what about Rutgers and Providence? Notre Dame just put an exclamation point on this train wreck. And just think about what Pitt is going to do to them this Saturday.
